I've always been drawn to creativity—whether as an educator, photographer, or fiber artist. My love for knitting started in childhood when my mom taught me the craft while I was growing up ski racing in Vermont. In 2005, that passion led me to start scout's swag, where I combined my eye for color and photography with hand-dyeing yarn. It took off quickly—I even appeared on Vickie Howell’s Knitty Gritty and landed a book contract. But life had other plans, and in 2011, I had to step away from the business.
Fast forward 14 years, two life-saving organ transplants (yes, really!), and grown kids later—I knew it was time to return to what brings me joy. Creating and sharing beautiful yarn isn’t just a business; it’s my way of bringing inspiration and a little dopamine boost to fellow makers.

This is my go to for carrying hats, socks, scarves etc that are on my needles. It's sturdy, holds more than you'd imagine, and the prints are darling. The interior pocket is great for keeping notions close at hand.

I love my purchases from Finchmod -- some yarn and some notions tins. We had a bit of a glitch with the shipping -- totally my fault -- I apologize, again, Scout. Scout handled it with grace, constant communication, and speed even though it was pre-Thanksgiving. My new notions tins are already in project bags. I'm looking forward to starting something with my awesome Pearls, Chucks, & Zero F**ks yarn!

I’m almost finished with my first project, and like it so much I ordered another. The videos are excellent, the materials are nice to work with, and it’s fun to have a different craft than knitting in my hands for a bit.
I purchased 4 skeins (different weights) of Pearls, Chucks & Zero F*cks and it is beautiful. The photos do not do it justice at all. The colors are incredibly pigmented, vibrate yet muted (in all the right places!) at the same time. I've knit a swatch with the bulky weight and the way it feels in my hands is incredible. Bouncy with the right about of squish to structure. I feel this will have the right amount of drape without sagging.
After November 5th, I was feeling a lot of feelings and knew I needed to do something to supporting something/someone. This yarn purchase was a way to help a small business who has been making a difference since day one, working hard to help protect & support those that need it just a little bit more. This yarn will be the perfect way to remind myself that we never can stop fighting for what is right, even when it's not easy.
